Hello Doodlefans ....... iiiiiitttttssss Christmas !!!!

After my foray to India with camels, night time desert sleepovers, trippy electric bull senarios

and palm fringed beaches, I'm back to the snow havoced shores of England and the turkey marathon that is Christmas. With one eye on the new year and future work opportunities, I dropped into the offices of Sternberg Clarke, the UK's leading supplier of entertainment to the corporate and wedding markets. Looking for an artist to work at events as a caricaturist. After a few wonky attempts to lose the doodling rust I produced a couple of doodleruss styled characters for their Gallery.

You can find my doodles and their heartfelt comments on their blog with a great big picture of my own work called man and fox having a pint. Fingers crossed 2011 will be full of corporate gigs and bar mitzvahs then ... ?

Never touch a big bears honey I say ...... got through to the semi final of Mojizu monster fight off with this design, will have to enter a couple new creatures and see how I do. Check out the site, some nice character design goes on it http://mojizu.com

A character I did a while a go now, and just dug him out for a viewing. Always liked the mix of vector and photograph background on this one.

Light & Shade

Well, I've reached the shadows and highlights stage. It Still needs more work to lift the characters

away from the backgrounds I feel, and I need to make some clear difference in tone and atmosphere between the good and bad sides. But it's getting there ...

The Dark side ...

Just finished putting the basic base colours into the bad side of my Albert artwork. Next step is to begin adding some depth to the piece with shadows & highlights.

Albert artwork, good bit coloured

First stage of the colouring in done. Much of these colours will be altered during the working of the piece, but I like to get some colours on the board to flesh out the piece and then change the tone and saturation as I go along. Next I'm going to colour the bad side. Then add shadows and highlights, followed by textures and finished off with the outlines. Not sure whether to keep the black inked outlines or to colour them yet. Looking to get the second batch of colouring done by early next week.

New cleaned up Albert artwork ...

This is a piece I'm working on for my little Nephew, Albert. The left side will be goodness, elfs and happy trees, and the right will be darker in tone with stinking rats and tattooed goblins. Just cleaned it up, and have begun the colouring in process, will load up each new stage as I work through them.
